4 Affordable getaways to escape the Winter blues

If you're ready to escape the dull, daily routine and unpredictable British weather, why not jet away (or at least for a weekend break). Take a look at our wish list of cool destinations that won't break the bank.

1. Eat out in San Sebastian

Donstia - San Sebastián is possibly Spain's, Europe's, even the world's, biggest foodie region. This elegant port resort located on the Bay of Biscay, is buzzing with Michelin restaurants and quaint walk-in bars, but the one thing they all have in common is the delicious tapas known as pintxos.

With beautiful landscapes, gorgeous beaches and a relaxed gastronomic feel to tempt you, this city is really worth a visit.

2. Take a selfie in the blue Cyprus waters

Cyprus is far more than a lazy beach-time resort; with impressive history, compelling culture and beautiful landscapes, there is plenty to see and do. From Phapos archaeological monasteries, Ayia Napa’s sea caves and scuba diving areas throughout the stunning island, why not add Cyprus to your wish list for 2015!

3. Visit a volcanic beach in Tenerife

The largest of the Canary Islands is a fabulous world of contrasts. The idyllic combination of sun and sand, nature and leisure, have made it one of the most popular tourist resorts in Europe and a perfect place for a sunny Winter break. Its 269 kilometres of coastline offer a wide variety of places to enjoy the sun and the sea. In the north, where the countryside is steep with cliffs, you will find small bays and natural pools, whereas in the south, you will find numerous beaches, most of which are volcanic in origin.

4. Skiing in Andorra la Bella

Take a winter break in Andorra for an exhilarating ski experience in the stunning Pyrenees region. Apart from several major ski resorts, including Soldeu -El Tarter and Pal-Arinsal, there’s an abundance of great walking ranging from easy strolls to demanding day hikes in the higher, more remote areas. This beautiful little country has so much to offer!
