Meet the Freixenet team II

We bring the II edition of 'Meet the team'. Meet some of the people behind the scenes that keep the Freixenet world turning!

Name: Le Verne Hale
Role: Admin Co-Ordinator, UK.

How did you get into your current job role?

I was recruited via a Personnel Agency as a Logistics Executive.

What attracted you to Freixenet?

The thought of working for a company that distributed bubbles and wine in the UK sounded very attractive.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I like working for a family run business. Freixenet being a very traditionally old family business gives you a feeling of being part of something important and unique and part of the family.

What’s your favourite Freixenet sparkler?

I like Mia Moscato Pink. It is fruity and light and we had it as the toasting drink for my stepdaughter’s wedding at the beginning of this year.  Happy memories…

How would you pair it and for what occasion?

Weddings, hen parties, birthdays... Anything really as it is refreshing and light.  Probably would be great as a Summer (BBQ) drink.

Your perfect plan for the weekend?

Relaxing at home on a Friday night with the family and a nice bottle of red wine and a steak dinner or at a Dog Show with my award winning, much loved pedigree miniature Schnauzer Walter (and his sister Disney).

What’s your next holiday destination?

My homeland-South Africa in March next year!  Can’t wait to spend time with family and friends I have not seen for 3 years.  This time we are all going together to see ‘The Big 5’ and stay in a Game Reserve a few hour’s drive from my home town.

Any perks in working for a wine company?

The wine of course and the variety of different wines we  have on offer to try/taste at Freixenet.

And the best piece of advice you’d like to pass on when talking about wine…

Drink (and eat) what you like not what you think is best or you should as it is trendy.  Keep it simple.

Name: Jordi Vidal
Role: Brand Manager, Spain.

How did you get into your current job role?

I started at Freixenet in the RRPP Department in Spain in 1999, and I stayed in the business since then.

What attracted you to Freixenet?

Freixenet is a leader company in its field and, at the same time, it keeps being a family owned business. It offers great professional and personal development opportunities...Could it be somehting better?

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Feeling part of the brand and the business. Freixenet is a leader global player in the wine field, and I feel proud when I see the product is present in so many places and that I am somehow part of it. The fact that this is a family owned business also helps, as the closeness to the owners makes such a difference in appreciating your work.

What’s your favourite Freixenet sparkler?

 Elyssia Grand Cuvée.

How would you pair it and for what occasion?

I would have a glass as an aperitif and then pair it with food at lunch.

Your perfect plan for the weekend?

Some excercise in the morning and then a nice lunch with friends and family.

What’s your next holiday destination?

 Tanzania, Kilimanjaro, in three weeks!

Any perks in working for a wine company?

Many, specially if you grew up in the region, surrounded by wine trails and wineries. You get to know many people from the wine sector and we try to encourage socialising with family and friends, so we tend to open cava and wine bottles in many occasions!

And the best piece of advice you’d like to pass on when talking about wine…

Try different wines and enjoy them with others. It's always nicer to enjoy a glass of fizz or wine in company.

Name: Heather Langridge
Role: Logistics Manager, UK.

How did you get into your current job role?

I was looking for a role where I could use my Spanish language skills and sent in a letter and my CV. Luckily, there was a vacancy in the Logistics team.

What attracted you to Freixenet?

The language, the product, the people…

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Successfully organising emergency orders for when sales are going so well, the retailer is fast running out of stock. A nice problem!

What’s your favourite Freixenet sparkler?

Elyssia Gran Cuvée

How would you pair it and for what occasion?

It doesn’t need to be an occasion. It’s often paired with take-away fish & chips when I don’t fancy cooking!

Your perfect plan for the weekend?

Packing up the car with children and a picnic, enjoying the outdoors and probably an ice cream. Dinner (and wine) with friends.

What’s your next holiday destination?

Barcelona – I haven’t been back for a while.

Any perks in working for a wine company?

Learning all about it, together with some practical tasting experience.

And the best piece of advice you’d like to pass on when talking about wine…

It doesn’t matter how much you know, it’s about trying different wines and working out for yourself what you like.
