4 places to go Wild Swimming in the UK

Exploring the world's outdoor swimming places. On a hot summer day, what could be more refreshing than slipping into the cool, clear waters of a secret lake?

MELYNLLYN, SNOWDONIA

Hidden away amongst the high cliffs of North Snowdonia is a clear blue glacial lake. Melynllyn catches the sun, so after your refreshing plunge you can enjoy a sunny picnic while enjoying the view.

APPLETREEWICK, RIVER WHARFE, DALES

The River Wharfe is one of the best wild swimming rivers in the Dales, but in tiny Appletreewick you can escape the crowds. There’s an idyllic rocky pool in the river with a small island and bay, plus rapids upstream and a large shingle beach on the far bank downstream.

GOLDIGGINS QUARRY, CORNWALL

With crystal clear waters and grassy banks, it's the perfect place to relax and escape, with high-jumping ledges for those are feeling a little more daring.

RIVER THAMES, PANGBOURNE, BERKSHIRE

Not far from London, at the edge of the Chilterns, are the chalky banks and clear waters of the Thames. And just few miles away is Goring-on-Thames, where you can indulge in a drink and a bite at a local pub before heading home.
