Pizza Party Freixenet style

We've got all the dinner-party inspiration you'll need to master a tasty pizza party in a snap.

A pizza party is appropriate for any time of the year, and it is perfect if you’re looking for a slightly more relaxed dinner party for friends full of delicious, easy dishes. Rachel from  Rachel Pipps blog shares how she'd throw a tasty and fun pizza party.

"I love to glaze sausage meatballs with a tangy tomato glaze (boil down tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar and sugar to taste to make a thick glaze) and serve them on the end of cocktail sticks to please the meat eaters. I love making sausage meatballs as the sausage meat already has everything in it to make well seasoned and bound meatballs that you can simply just roll up and bake".

"I like to make one or two big, classic tomato and mozzarella pizza garnished just with slithers of fresh basil for everyone to share (deep dish pizza works better for a crowd), instead serving up possible toppings as canapés (served at the table so they also double as starters). Then I would choose something light and tasty like these Mozzarella pearls". 

Homemade Pesto Marinated Mini Mozzarella Pearls

Makes approximately 20 skewers.


  •  15g Fresh Basil
  • 4 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Zest of 1/2 Lemon
  • 1 tsp Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 tsp Fennel Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 125g Pack Mozzarella Pearls


In a mini chopper or food processor blend the basil, olive oil, lemon zest and juice, sea salt and a generous few grinds of black pepper until smooth. Crush the fennel seeds between your fingers into the mix and season with more salt and pepper to taste. Spoon over the mozzarella pearls, drained, in a small bowl and mix well until the mozzarella pearls are well coated. Refrigerate to marinate overnight.

Onto thick cocktail picks, skewer two to three (depending on their size) mozzarella pearls onto about 20 picks. Serve piled up on a dish, with any leftover marinade drizzled over.

Nutella Cheesecake Cups

"When it is time for dessert, I love single serving puddings for dinner parties. It is really easy to make your favourite no bake cheesecake recipe in little cups; I like making a Nutella and mascarpone number with a salted biscuit base to polish off the meal".

Freixent & Campari Orange Fizz

"To drink, you can’t go wrong with a few sparkling cocktails, and a couple of ice cold beers. Using a gold or sliver metallic permanent marker you can write the cocktail ingredients on the black matte Freixenet bottle to let your guests know what their drinking. Line a couple up by way of a menu if you’re serving up a few options!"

This refreshing mix of fresh orange juice, Campari and Freixenet Cordon Negro is a beautiful colour, and is perfect for parties and easy to pair with pizza. 

Serves 4 (easily multiplied)

  •  45ml Campari
  • 3 Large Oranges
  • Freixenet Cordon Negro

Juice the oranges, mix in the Campari and chill until cold. Divide between 4 flutes (until about 3/4 full) and top up with chilled Freixenet.
